I read at a high level and this book was challenging for me. Most of today's writing is 6th grade level, this book is not. That would be fine if it were Shakespeare, but it is not. That said, there are some priceless foundations of thought that can be gleaned from this book. One my favorites compares a married couple to the two blades of a shear. Separately they are less useful but bound together anything that comes between them can and should be punished.

My heading is a bit of an exaggeration, but the book's primary thesis would probably result in the man being happy and the wife (and I did use "man" and "wife" instead of "husband" and "wife" intentionally) sublimating her life to make the man happy. If this is your perspective on Christian human relationships, the book will probably be inspiring. The book does assume that the man will be interested in not making his wife's life hell and, given that assumption, the book's conclusions are reasonable.
