This novel opens seven months into the re-habitation of Le-Ath Veronis and covers roughly a two year period of time. Lissa and her mates are dealing with the multitude of issues that arise from building a society from the ground up - laws, infrastructure, entertainment, etc. It's overwhelming sometimes just reading about it. This novel has so many personal issues, though, that I think it may top the list of the most emotionally painful novel in the series. Lissa has to deal with not being able to have children while those close to her get pregnant and have kids. She has to deal with the betrayal of one of her mates as well as the results of another person's betrayal, which isn't discovered until the next novel. She has to deal with the nasty media and the universal drama of a new Ra'Ak threat, and she works to re-settle another of the fallen dark worlds. It's all tightly and tearfully packed into 259 pages.Another reason this novel is difficult to read is that some of the decisions the characters make just astound me; they make no sense. If someone close to me lost their memory, I wouldn't just sit back and let it be. I would re-introduce them to all of their friends and loved ones. I would tell them stories and show them photos and take them to favorite places - *anything* to help them pick back up where they left off. If my loved one NEVER remembered anything personally, at least they would have as many facts as possible to know the depth and importance of their relationships. That doesn't seem to have been a thought in ANYONE's mind, and to me that is just the stupidest thing ever. These people seem to just "let it be" for over a year, and so they cannot move on. The pain is still there and there is no progress or closure or hope at all. Sad.
Finally the thing that pushes me over the edge from sadness to anger with this novel is that people don't stand up for themselves. Yes, Lissa suffers A LOT from the misdeeds of others, but she is partly to blame for her own misery. She also made decisions that allowed bad things to happen. Had she stood up for herself, spoke up for herself, things might have been different. Yet for much of this novel, Lissa seems to be having a huge pity party for herself. Maybe that's to be expected when the emotional hits just keep coming, idk, but from the objective reader's perspective, things could have been so different for her had she made a few different choices. At least when the hits came, she would have been in a different place personally and maybe able to handle things better.

This book is amazingly awesome to followers of the series and by itself. I'm not a "professional" reviewer by any means, nor am I one that will give out a lot of information. But I do have to say that all of Connie Suttle's books, so far, are fantastic and when you read the series in order, they are even better! It is amazing to see the growth of the writer and the characters from the start to currently. Love the books, love the author, and love the characters! And for those that are put off by others' comments, just give the series a try, it might just make sense if you do.
10 STARS! Totally love this series! Yes people, there are A LOT of characters, but what can you expect from a multi-planet / multi-time / multi-dimensional story plot. I really enjoy how the author 'grows' the character with each successive book. The author really knows how to play with her readers emotions, and create realistic characters with whom her readers can empathize. And... The Ending... Was Sooooo Happy... Looking forward to the next book!
Have really enjoyed this series, its very creative, from the setting to the characters and plot there is soo much going on! Wouldve given a full five stars for this book but didnt because I would've liked more interaction with characters, Lissa seems to be off on her own a lot in this book, whether she is grieving or fighting, also some mates just hung out and waited for her and did nothing else. Gavin started out as a fierce even scary character but now does not seem to fit with story. All in all it was a good read and I can't wait to see her and Rolf get back together in the next book (I hope).
I love this series by Connie Suttle, and was just as thrilled with Blood Rebellion as I have been with the rest of them. The characters are awesome, and Ms. Suttle has a unique and interesting storyline that has kept me always eager to read more.
Being the vampire fanatic that I am, I have always been picky about what I think constitutes a good vampire story and what doesn't. I've studied vampire lore, read Bram Stoker's Dracula, seen just about every vampire movie there is to see, and I've read a ton of vampire fiction. For me to say this is a book, and series, that I truly enjoy is a big deal. The storyline is not your standard vampire story, and there are many elements that on the surface you wouldn't think would work, but in the way Ms. Suttle puts it all together, it works beautifully and expands the vampire genre that much more.
In short, it's awesome.
I think it may be because just touching on and most of it kind of skimmed over because It was done from afar I guess you could say. I loved that pancake back but I think I liked more of the hands on fights instead of bam! every one is dead and gone. Still interesting in the parts with relationships like with Haven or whatever his name is....yea so many people to keep track of, which usually in books I can handle. I could here too honestly I didn't have a big problem with that although I can see most people's point on that too, it was kinda a bit much. It was like the author wanted every one to be there and have all the stuff happening too , like ..ever really thought about all the things you could do if you had billions of dollars? And you just keep on thinking up stuff but you have to make it all work but you don't really edit anything because it's not true? Well to me that's kinda what this feels like.
On top of that we don't really know what Lissa really thinks about any of her relationships, instead of getting into that she goes to sulk which bell she sure deserves turnabout some actual thoughts? I also don't understand how she cancer someone and then have a bond or whatever you want to call it, because it's just hi ya let's go have sex? It just all happens way too fast! I always kept thinking I was missing something there. Don't get me wrong I do like the books but the first ones much much better. I'll finish the series but I hope the next few are better.
